The European Commission is proposing that companies who transfer cryptocurrencies and other cryptoassets must collect details of who sends and receives them, Reuters reports.

The proposed law would apply what is known as the travel rule – in line with regulation which already applies to wire transfers, Reuters notes.

Under the proposed rules, which could take two years to convert into law, provision of anonymous cryptoasset wallets would be banned.
