SIX has received go-aheads by Swiss market supervisor FINMA to operate both a stock exchange and a central securities depository for digital assets in Switzerland.

SIX began putting up its digital exchange, SDX, in 2018 to build “a fully regulated, integrated trading, settlement and custody infrastructure based on Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) for digital securities”. According to the new announcement, this is what has now been completed.

SIX Digital Exchange is now hoping to attract more banks, issuers, insurance firms and institutional investors to what it refers to as its digital financial ecosystem.
