Nasdaq has expanded Nasdaq Eqlipse, its portfolio of market infrastructure platforms, with the launch of Nasdaq Eqlipse Digital. The new addition will link on-chain and off-chain environments through a connectivity layer that creates a consistent model across networks.

In his article about Nasdaq Eqlipse Digital, Roland Chai, the firm’s president of European Markets, head of Digital Assets, and EVP points out, “The models for tokenisation are still taking shape. Some operators are bringing existing assets onto distributed ledgers, while others are designing new instruments for continuous trading and instant settlement. Many will pursue both.”

He described Nasdaq Eqlipse Digital as being built to support both approaches, with the flexibility to “adapt as new token models emerge”. “It serves as a set of digital asset capabilities that extends the Eqlipse platforms and also works alongside other environments.”

Key to Nasdaq Eqlipse Digital is a connectivity layer that links tokenised assets to the same system as their off-chain counterparts, thus applying the same governance and rules. This allows operators to issue, settle, and service tokenised assets across multple blockchain networks, and move them between on-chain and off-chain environments through one consistent model, with ownership records and rights intact.

Additionally, Nasdaq Eqlipse Digital also supports atomic settlement across stablecoin and tokenised rails, ensuring that the asset and payment always move together while operators maintain control over settlement finality.

Chai predicts, “Assets and liquidity will live on-chain and off-chain, across many networks, for the foreseeable future,” so “the next generation of capital markets will be a connected system in which assets and liquidity move freely between mainstream and digital venues, under the governance and integrity that markets depend on”.
