VIDEO INTERVIEW | Now that TARGET2-Securities (T2S) is in place in Finland, a major hurdle has been cleared. Still, the work is never over, as Janne Palvalin revealed. The Head of Sector and Infrastructure at Nordea Wholesale Banking Operations caught up with PostTrade 360° after his panel session at the Helsinki conference to share his agenda for the coming year.

Leading into the interview, Janne Palvalin expressed happiness at how smoothly Finland’s transition to T2S went, but stated that it was “just a migration”. Now that “real life under T2S” has begun, there is more work to be done in “utilising T2S in a way that gets the best benefits out of it”.

On his agenda for the coming year, ensuring that the Finnish dividend payment model is compliant with T2S requirements would be a priority. The shortening of the settlement cycle is another issue that is likely to occupy his time. Other “smaller discussion topics” include corporate action standardization, regulatory changes, and taxation changes.
