Euronext’s supervisory board intends to nominate David Knibbe as chief executive officer and chairman of the managing board, succeeding Stéphane Boujnah, who has decided to step down in May 2027.

Knibbe joins from asset manager and insurer NN Group, where he has been CEO since 2019. His nomination will be put to shareholders at Euronext’s annual general meeting on 20 May 2027, and is subject to approval by the relevant national competent authorities (NCAs) and the Dutch Minister of Finance. He will be based in Paris. NN Group is itself listed on Euronext Amsterdam, giving Knibbe experience of the exchange group from the perspective of both an issuer and a market user.

The appointment follows a selection process in which the supervisory board “considered several candidates in light of the Group’s strategic priorities and long-term ambitions”.

Supervisory board chair Piero Novelli said Knibbe brings a consistent track record of value creation in another highly regulated industry. “His experience in successful integrations and technology transformation will be highly valuable as Euronext continues to execute its strategy and invests in future growth,” he said.

Under Boujnah, Euronext has pursued convergence across European markets, aiming to offer users greater choice and to build scale in capital markets where fragmentation remains an impediment to growth. Euronext said Knibbe’s experience positions him well to continue scaling the group through its next phase of strategic growth and to further advance the integration of European capital markets.

According to the exchange group, Knibbe will drive its strategic roadmap, building on the growth and transformation delivered under Boujnah over the past decade while accelerating its ambitions for the years ahead. He will work with Euronext’s leadership team to further connect European capital markets and advance the EU’s Savings and Investments Union.
