Clear Street Canada has moved clearing and execution for its Canadian clients onto Clear Street’s proprietary cloud-native platform, according to a company release.

It is the first time Clear Street’s own clearing and execution technology has been used for its Canadian business. The platform combines trading, clearing and settlement in a single system.

Away from legacy technology

Clear Street said Canadian institutional trading still relies largely on legacy systems, much of which is owned by incumbent bank-dealers.

John Skain, CEO of Clear Street Canada, said Canadian institutions have been “tied to legacy trading technology they don’t control”. The new platform allows clients to see their risk as the market moves and settle on one system, he said.

Clear Street Canada has served active traders in the Canadian market since 2023. The company said the offering can now be extended to professional traders, family offices and institutional money managers.
