ESMA Chair Verena Ross will not seek a second term and will leave at the end of her current mandate on 31 October 2026, the EU markets regulator said in its announcement. ESMA will now start the process to select a new chair.
Ross sproke recently at the ECSDA post-trade conference in Brussels. In her keynote she stressed that the industry’s move to T+1 settlement is part of wider change in the post-trade landscape, including interoperability and digitalisation opportunities beyond the T+1 deadline.
