The central securities depository operated by the National Bank of Romania has joined the European Central Securities Depositories Association (ECSDA) as a full member, ECSDA said in a statement.

With the addition, the Romanian central bank CSD becomes part of ECSDA’s membership base, which includes CSDs operating under different governance and ownership models. According to ECSDA, the association provides a platform for cooperation between CSDs and for the development and implementation of common industry standards.

Knowledge exchange

ECSDA secretary general Anna Kulik said the association would continue to support CSDs regardless of their governance structure. “The exchange of knowledge within the Association, as well as the development and implementation of joint standards within ECSDA, contribute to building an even more interconnected, modern and safe financial infrastructure, addressing the needs of capital markets in relevant jurisdictions, and supporting the global competitiveness of European economies.”
