The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC), one of the world’s largest equity derivatives clearing organisations, has announced the appointment of Matt Rathbun as Chief Security Officer-Elect. Rathbun will take over from current CSO Mark Morrison, who is set to retire according to a OCC press release.
Once Rathbun assumes the role, he will be responsible for OCC’s Cyber Operations, Security Governance, Cyber Risk, Security Business Operations, Security Architecture and Engineering, and Security Red Teams.
Rathbun brings over 25 years of experience in information technology and systems engineering. Most recently, he served as CSO for Two Sigma, a New York-based quantitative investment firm, where he led global security efforts to protect systems, data, and intellectual property. Prior to that, he held the role of CSO at Microsoft Azure Global, overseeing security, compliance, and architecture. His earlier career includes leadership positions at First Information Technology Services, The Bank of Washington, and Siemens Business Services.
Andrej Bolkovic, OCC’s CEO, emphasised the importance of a strong security framework in the organisation’s role as a Systemically Important Financial Market Utility. He highlighted Rathbun’s expertise in information security across both investment management and cloud computing as a valuable asset for OCC’s ongoing resilience efforts.
