Riksbanken’s June decision to join payments platform T2 around 2030 implies that a connection with securities settlement platform T2S will follow. Meet up in Stockholm on 4 September (free of charge) for the PostTrade 360° Nordic conference will dedicate a multi-faceted panel session to the topic.
By implication, Riksbankens decision on 18 June, to seek membership with the Eurosystem’s wholesale payments platform T2, shed light also on what we can expect in relation to the securities side – Target2-Securities (T2S). Sweden’s go-live would probably not happen until some year after 2030 but still, the direction towards joining seems determined – a development that could impact the market participant landscape notably, and see winners and losers.
The session “Sweden’s approach to T2S” at PostTrade 360° Nordic 2024 will delve into the implications of this decision for market infrastructures and participants.
This session will feature insights from:
Sandra Holmqvist, Chief Business Officer Financial Institutions – Sweden, Euroclear
Ola Mjorud, Nordic Head of Securities Services, Citi
Christine Strandberg, Head of Investor Services Banks Product Management, SEB
Christina Wejshammar, Head of Payments Department, Sveriges Riksbank
Urban Funered, CEO, Swedish Securities Markets Association
Seek a bit of background? PostTrade 360° has previously interviewed panelist Christina Sandberg on the topic, read the interview here.
Judging by how many delegates have pre-selected this session into their personal schedules, chairs for this one will be in high demand.
Note that adding a session to your personal schedule does not commit you to attend (except for the dinner or exclusive sessions where very clearly communicated). Conversely, it does not guarantee your seat, so come in good time where you suspect a full room.
