Euroclear is going to acquire a stake in Iznes, a pan-European funds marketplace utilising blockchain technology. Philippe Laurensy, head of product, strategy and innovation at the CSD operator highlights the potential of digital technologies to reduce costs in funds distribution.

Iznes, established in 2017, operates a regulated platform for subscriptions and redemptions of shares in European funds. According to a press release, Euroclear aims to enhance its Euroclear FundsPlace offering as well as its presence in the French market and beyond through this move. Euroclear FundsPlace is an end-to-end funds platform solution across mutual and money market funds, alternatives funds and ETFs.

The agreement is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed. The acquisition follows Euroclear’s previous expansions into the digital space, including the acquisitions of digital fund distribution platform MFEX in 2021 and private funds digital marketplace Goji in 2023.
