Clearstream has gone live with its tri-party collateral management solution connected to the Eurosystem Collateral Management System (ECMS), becoming the only CSD currently offering this level of integration. The launch follows the start of ECMS operations on 16 June 2025, states Clearstream.

The ECMS is the European Central Bank’s new unified platform for managing eligible collateral across all Eurozone national central banks. It replaces a patchwork of national systems, aiming to improve efficiency and standardisation in cross-border collateral use.

Clearstream’s tri-party setup allows clients to use ECMS as a single collateral pool for both bilateral and tri-party transactions. According to the company, this supports more streamlined access to central bank liquidity and enhances cross-border collateral mobility.

CSD platform

In addition to tri-party integration, Clearstream also enables the safekeeping and transfer of all ECB-eligible marketable assets through its Pan-European CSD platform. The solution connects participants to all T2S markets and covers a broad range of asset classes.

Clearstream’s Head of Collateral, Lending and Liquidity Solutions, Marton Szigeti, noted the role of the ECMS launch in supporting these broader changes, though no further timeline or volume data was shared following the go-live.
