Nasdaq has named Christian Sjöberg as the new President of Nasdaq Clearing, effective 1 September 2025. In addition to heading the Swedish CCP, Sjöberg takes on an expanded remit as Head of Post-Trade Strategy in Europe. The appointment is pending approval by the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (SFSA), announced Nasdaq.

Sjöberg will lead Nasdaq’s clearing operations across derivatives, fixed income, and commodities, a core part of the group’s infrastructure in the Nordic region. He will also be responsible for driving Nasdaq’s broader post-trade strategy in Europe, focusing on resilience, efficiency, and alignment with regulatory developments.

Currently part of Nasdaq’s FinTech Product Strategy and Development team, Sjöberg brings over 20 years of experience in post-trade infrastructure and financial market operations. He joined Nasdaq in 2022 as Head of Business Development & Portfolio Strategy for Post Trade, where he led global initiatives involving CCPs, CSDs, and exchanges.

Previous roles

His previous roles include senior positions at HKEX, SIX x-clear, and Oslo Clearing, with a focus on clearing, risk management, and operational transformation. Sjöberg will be based in Stockholm and report to Roland Chai, President of European Market Services at Nasdaq.

“Christian brings deep knowledge of financial infrastructure and risk management,” said Chai. “His leadership will support the continued evolution of Nasdaq’s clearing services and strengthen our post-trade strategy across Europe.”
