New EU T+1 Industry Committee guidance clarifies approach to storage and exchange of SSIs and signals alignment with the UK

The EU T+1 Industry Committee has published a clarification regarding the EU approach to the storage and exchange of Standing Settlement Instructions (SSIs) templates.

A core element of the clarification is that there is a common European standard: The Financial Markets Standards Board (FMSB) taxonomies and templates for sharing SSIs are compatible with the European Economic Area’s (EEA) requirements for pre-settlement storage and exchange requirements of SSI data (as previously advised in the EU T+1 SSI Taskforce’s December 2025 guidance).

This signifies alignment with the UK Accelerated Settlement Taskforce (AST),  which recommended the same approach.

The EU T+1 Industry Committee also provides additional European Economic Area (EEA) field-level guidance (when implementing the FMSB templates) given transactions occur across multiple jurisdictions.

Andrew Douglas, chair of the UK AST, said clarification commenting that ‘this is further evidence of the excellent co-operation between the UK and EU taskforces confirming additional standardisation between both jurisdictions and further enhancing the efficiency of cross-border European securities processing.’
