VIDEO | New automation possibilities and platform setups are – finally – beginning to change the nature of work in fund distribution operations. Two heads of operations were on the panel in this Wednesday session of PostTrade 360° Stockholm: Nordnet’s Katarina Björkander and ISEC’s Miran Bengtsson.
This session was sponsored by Euroclear Sweden
“All market participants must collaborate for this to improve the industry,” said Miran Bengtsson.
“It will benefit us all, but in the end the shareholder.”
She and Katarina Björkander shared the stage with product advisor Tobie Horne from technology provider Tietoevry and session moderator Fredrik Lundström of Euroclear Sweden.
While Sweden’s financial firms are very innovative in the market, a large number still handle fund transactions manually with all the unnecessary workload, cost and operational risk that follows. Also, the automation can add multiple valuable capabilities in fund distribution. This panel discussed what a service for automated fund transaction management does, and what it takes to get it fully implemented in the industry. The panelists noted the impact of new actors in fund distribution, often making efficient use of flexible new architectures such as API-based ones.
