Joining PostTrade 360° Oslo on Wednesday, Storebrand Asset Management COO Arne Martin Moen shared the setup for his organization’s recent move to a cloud-based processing platform.

“It turned out to be much more complex than we thought from the beginning,” says Arne Martin Moen – later adding that this was a blessing in disguise as it led to some serious cleaning up. A lift-and-shift approach could not be taken.

The cloud-based result turned out good, however, and it turned out flexible enough to support even a re-engineering of the whole architecture in 3–4 days at the point that it became required.
The way Arne Martin Moen sees as his organization’s future operating model, it takes three keys: optimizing the use of people, of the processes and of technology. The presentation went through managerial aspects such as the various teams needed, but it is also important to remember the human side of it all.
“It is important for us that people are moving to the cloud – not being moved to the cloud.”
